okay, just great!! just one day right before the preview of Shrek Forever After, i received a registered express mail from maxis! ahhh, it pays to be a loyal customer of maxis for almost 14 years now and take advantage of the games, wallpaper, ringtones, etc. they offer. thank you maxis!!! so, story is - i downloaded a shrek mobile game and voila, i was one of the lucky winner to watch the preview of

SHREK Forever After

thing is, maxis was mean to me! or maybe i was like, one of the few last customers to download the shrek mobile game because the seatings allocated to me were just three rows away from the screen!  hmmm... oh well, since i've already plan to watch IP Man 2 tomrorow at almost the same time too but in a different venue, i am unable to attend this screening. hear this maxis!! do not send the preview tickets one day before the screening!! people do make plans early okay!

as a result, i'm giving away my tickets to those who would like to watch the preview of Shrek Forever After in 3D. Oh! did i mention that complimentary popcorn and drinks will be served too! lucky lucky! :)

woots! last tuesday was a great one because thanks to Adverlets i managed to watch the preview of The Bounty Hunter!! you must be wondering, what the heck is a 'bounty hunter', but who cares if both Gerard Butler and Jennifer Aniston is in it, right? in short, a bounty hunter captures fugitives for a monetary reward (bounty).

 the bounty hunter movie 2010

the storyline begins with a former-cop-turned-bounty hunter being given the assignment of chasing down his ex-wife when she skips a bail hearing. then of course, the usual takes place - while chasing her to bring her to jail, their emotions get all mixed up and the romance blooms again. but alas, i found both Gerard Butler and Jennifer Aniston alike a clove of garlic and a sweet candy - both just don't go well together.  not a perfect match for movies i'd say. i personally felt that the movie lacked flavour and twist to create a suspense that will last until the end of the movie. i found it just so-so and that it can definitely be better if more effort were contributed into the making of the whole film.

 c'mon, cycling in a skirt?

lotsa gun and handcuffs action!
about the film:
Milo Boyd (Gerard Butler), a down-on-his-luck bounty hunter, gets his dream job when he is assigned to track down his bail-jumping ex-wife, reporter Nicole Hurly (Jennifer Aniston).  He thinks all that’s ahead is an easy payday, but when Nicole gives him the slip so she can chase a lead on a murder cover-up, Milo realizes that nothing ever goes simply with him and Nicole.  The exes continually one-up each other – until they find themselves on the run for their lives.  They thought their promise to love, honor and obey was tough – staying alive is going to be a whole lot tougher. stop! take a beach trip to Perhentian Island! the island, 'perhentian' is derived from the bahasa word 'henti',  which means stop. for centuries, this spot has been a convenient stopover for fishermen from both Terengganu and Kelantan for rest and to take shelter during a storm. comprising two unspoiled island, namely Pulau Perhentian Kecil (Small Perhentian) and Perhentian Besar (Big Perhentian), this beach is an ideal destination for those seeking for a place equipped with main facilities and activities, minus the noise and buzz.

accommodations in perhentian besar and perhentian kecil

located at the north-eastern coast of peninsular malaysia, roughly 21km off shores the remote town of kuala besut, perhentian island has long been a popular tourist spot for those wanting to work on their tan and to experience the spectacular dive sites. nestled within a rocky jungle, one may chanced upon monitor lizards, hornbills, amazing insects and of course, an amazing marine life and corals! boyf and i have always preferred this island over the others in peninsular malaysia. we decided to visit the island during the off-peak season, which is a good idea if you intend to avoid the summer holidays crowd and for a lower rate on accommodations.

the voice of the sea speaks to the soul. - Kate Chopin

we flew with Air Asia to kota bharu town, then a cab from the airport to the kuala besut jetty. the 45 minutes ride will cost about RM70, (as @2010), so be careful of touts who'll try their best to charge you ridiculously more. it is best to buy the cab ticket from the counter in the airport itself. from the jetty, you can buy a fast boat ticket or get the ticket from the accommodation itself. we bought the ticket through the resort so we just had to show the boat ticket and hop on board. the fast boat ticket cost RM35 one way and RM70 for the return trip. the bumpy fast boat ride takes approximately 40 minutes to pulau perhentian besar. should be a shorter period for pulau perhentian kecil.

the welcoming jetty!

we stayed for a week in  Coral View Island Resort, located in pulau perhentian besar. we selected this resort because the rooms are built with hand-crafted wood panels which gives out the "kampung-style" feel. with unique features in the types of rooms available, the best thing about coral view island resort is that all rooms are with 24 hours electricity! yay! mind you, other places only generate electricity when evening falls.

while we were having lunch one afternoon, we saw a fisherman handing over some fishes to the restaurant owner. now, this is what i call the real fresh catch of the day! since we happened to finish our meal at that time, we decided to go and have a look at the fresh 'catch'! and woah! guess what they caught? a coral fish! i repeat. a beautiful large coral fish. i was practically interrogating the restaurant owner if it's even edible and what they're going to do with a beauty of such. he didn't speak much as he was too busy cleaning the fish. it was a real pity to watch the coral fish die in such a manner. before we left, we saw him tossing it to the side, unattended. i'm guessing he's either saving it, the aka 'best fish to eat' for his family or either just leave it there until it rots. this saddens me as no protection was done for this species and the fisherman was soooo ignorant! common, we paid a RM5 for the marine park conservation!! it's an effing marine park!! ish! take a look at the fish.

the fresh catch of the day!

the sad catch of the day!

putting that sad day aside, we enjoyed the sun, sea, sand, breeze and of course, each other's company. it was a good breakway from the city and gave us each a time to relax, de-stress and be more in sync with mother nature once again.

malaysia boleh! walaupun di pulau perhentian!

 happy beach bum me!

had freshly squeezed orange juice every single day! :)

going home after a hard day at work.

alas, the day came for us to bid farewell to paradise and return to the busy life again. goodbye perhentian island! we'll be back soon for sure! till we meet again!

at the beach - take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints.

most women would agree with me that the 'pampering me' time is essential for us to grow more in tune with ourselves. the pamper time varies among the different type of women and their respective likes and dislikes. be it a relaxing massage, a dreamy hair treatment, a soothing facial or a good manicure and pedicure, we love to be pampered! however, the downside about this is the $$$$$!! the rates are beyond what our pocket can bear to part with and it was a surprising find when i googled 'affordable manicure and pedicure' and stumbled upon a forum that spoke with much satisfaction over Diva Nails Spa!

i decided to give this outlet a try and quickly called to make an appointment. really easy to find because diva nails spa is centrally located in the affluent neighborhood of kota damansara, although parking may be a slight problem. do note that traffic can be heavy during the peak hours, so remember to avoid those hours.

the perfectly arranged OPI nail polish range hangs proudly on the walls for customers to choose their preferred nail colour. alternatively, when you're seated at the comfy massage chair, there's a set of nail polish colours painted on artificial nails for you to mix and match! so there's absolutely no need to hurry for those who can't make up their mind on the over 100 nail polish colours!
